2nd Annual Tour of Homes: Tinsel & Tradition Needs Volunteers

November 28, 2025

For Kaufman invites everyone to the second annual Tinsel & Tradition Holiday Tour of Homes in Kaufman. Experience the joy of the season as you stroll through some of Kaufman’s most beautifully decorated historical homes, each adorned with dazzling lights, festive decorations, and unique holiday charm.

We are thrilled to announce that the historic First United Methodist Church of Kaufman will be featured on this year’s Tour of Homes.

Tickets are $25 and are available online at www.forkaufman.com and in person at The Mercantile on Grove.

The reality of our HUGE Tour of Homes event is nearly here. It will be Saturday afternoon, December 6th, from 2:00 to 7:00. Last year’s event saw about 400 people go through the 5 homes on the Tour and it was a messy, rainy day. The event planning committee expects to see even more this year.

We need extra help. This Sunday, please find the Sign Up lists in the West Room if you can participate that day … or call Carole Aga (214-802-7148) or Betty Hendrickson (214-673-8726) to volunteer. We will list two shifts … 1:30 to 4:00 and then 4:00 to 7:30. If you can help but can't stay that long, please just write in the hours you are able to come. We need:

Men to take care of the Parking Lot … to oversee the parking lot and direct people to the Houston Street Entrance. Anyone on walkers, wheelchairs or other difficulties will be permitted to enter from our parking lot entrance.

Volunteers as "Greeters" or "Docents" (telling our History and describing features of the church) and some to walk around and make sure all guests are being taken care of.

Fellowship Hall — We will be serving light refreshments all afternoon and need help with cookies, brownies and other nibbles. The Women's Groups will be handling this but all are welcome to help in this area by contacting Carol Altom (972-962-8670) or Pam Caffey (214-538-4727).

This is an exciting event for our church and we look forward to being with all of you to make our church the place to be that day and all days following.

Thank you,
Carole Aga
