Ministries
Whether you're looking to serve, grow in faith, or simply find your people, there's a place for you in one of our ministries. Each group below is a small door into the larger life of this congregation.
Sundays at 9:00 am
Agape
The Agape class is for adults of all ages. We use the Bible to better understand our roles as Christians as we strive to love and live as Christ taught, and to understand how the Holy Spirit is at work in our lives. We meet Sunday mornings at 9:00 am in Fellowship Hall — pour yourself a cup of coffee and join us for some thought-provoking discussion.
Ragamuffins
This class is made up of all types of regular folks. It's a caring group where we study, discuss, and learn about what God has in store for our lives ahead, and where thoughts and opinions can be shared safely.
Sunday School at 9:00 am; Children's Choir Wednesdays at 6:00 pm
Our vision at FUMC Kaufman is to see all children actively participating in Sunday School. Through the study of Jesus Christ and reading God's Word, our children begin to build a relationship with Christ and simply learn to love Jesus and each other. Join us Sunday mornings at 9:00 am in the Orange Room of the Education wing.
Children's Choir
Children's Choir is open to kids from kindergarten through youth. Participation involves singing, movement, sign language, instruments, props, and children's bells. We meet for 30 minutes every Wednesday at 6:00 pm (except during the summer months) and perform several times throughout the year.
Ministry Safe
FUMC has taken proactive steps to train staff and volunteers and run background checks, so you can trust your child is safe while in our care.
4th Saturday of the month, coffee at 7:30 am, breakfast at 8:00 am, Fellowship Hall
The Methodist Men of Kaufman are a core group of men partnering with their pastor to invite and initiate spiritual growth opportunities for all men of the church. Our mission is to support spiritual growth among men, helping men mature as disciples as they encourage spiritual formation in others.
We meet the 4th Saturday of every month in Fellowship Hall — coffee is on at 7:30 am and breakfast is at 8:00 am.
For more information, contact Ken Caffey.
3rd Tuesday of the month, Fellowship Hall (Rachael Group 2:30 pm, Mary Group 6:30 pm)
The Methodist Women of Kaufman are a community of women who nurture and encourage one another in spiritual growth and personal development, committed to growing as disciples of Jesus Christ together and advocating on behalf of women, children, and youth.
We meet the third Tuesday of each month in Fellowship Hall — the Rachael Group at 2:30 pm and the Mary Group at 6:30 pm. All are welcome to visit and hear a special program; refreshments are provided by the monthly hostess. We hold two annual fundraisers: Family Night Bingo in the spring and our Famous Salad Bar in June.
Rehearsals Wednesdays 6:00–7:00 pm and Thursdays 5:00 pm
Whether you love to sing, want to learn to play bells, or have children who want to learn about God through music, we welcome everyone — no auditions, just a love of praising God together. Come make a joyful noise to the Lord!
Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir provides musical leadership for our Sunday worship service and performs at special occasions throughout the year. We rehearse weekly on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm, and it's open to anyone seeking a rewarding music outlet.
Trinity
Our praise band, Trinity, brings upbeat, contemporary music to worship with acoustic guitars, bass, and more. We meet Thursday evenings at 5:00 pm in the Sanctuary.
Bell Choir
The Bell Choir welcomes adults with beginning through intermediate ringing ability. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 6:00–7:00 pm, and we perform two to three times a year.
Children's Choir
Open to kids from kindergarten through youth, Children's Choir meets for 30 minutes every Wednesday except during the summer and performs several times a year.
Ongoing — schedules vary by project
Backpack Ministry
Our local backpack program helps hungry children by providing nutritious, easy-to-prepare food to take home on weekends when other resources aren't available. The program has an ongoing need for donated items.
Kaufman Christian Help Center
We collect non-perishable food donations for the Help Center — bring items by the church office or drop them in the box in Fellowship Hall.
Scouting Ministry
FUMC supports our Cub, Boy, and Girl Scouting programs, which teach children and youth spiritual and character development, citizenship, and self-reliance through service projects and activities.
Meals on Wheels
FUMC volunteers deliver meals provided by the Kaufman Senior Citizens Center each day in February and August, plus a traditional Christmas meal prepared by our congregation.
Pumpkin Patch
Each October our front lawn turns orange for our annual Pumpkin Patch — watch the calendar for dates.
Varies — see the church calendar and weekly bulletin
The Sunshine Gang is a program of FUMC Kaufman designed to meet the needs of our members and non-members age 55 and older. We provide opportunities for singles and couples to build friendships, grow in their relationship with God, and serve others.
Some adventures are taken in our church bus, some in a caravan of cars, and others happen right in Fellowship Hall. We plan evening and weekend events for those who work, though most trips are taken during the week. Sunshine Gang updates are shared in the church weekly update, calendar of events, and Sunday bulletin.
