In the Gospel of John 14:15-21, Jesus speaks words that gently challenge and deeply comfort: "If you love me, keep my commands."
Love, in the way Jesus describes it, is not merely a feeling or a sentiment...it is demonstrated through obedience. In a world where love is often defined by emotion alone, Jesus points us to a love that is active, intentional, and lived out daily.
Jesus promises "another Advocate"...the Spirit of truth. This is the Holy Spirit, God’s own presence dwelling within believers. We are not expected to follow Christ through sheer willpower; instead, we are guided, strengthened, and reminded of His truth through the Spirit who lives in us.
There is also a beautiful assurance in this passage: "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you."
These words speak directly to the heart. We are not abandoned in our struggles, doubts, or efforts to live faithfully. Christ is present...through His Spirit...closer than we often realize.
And then comes a powerful promise: "Because I live, you also will live."
Our hope is rooted not in circumstances, but in the living Christ. His life guarantees our life...both now in spiritual fullness and eternally with Him.
Where is God calling you to turn love into action today? Perhaps it’s extending grace, choosing patience, or stepping out in faith. Remember, you are not alone...the Holy Spirit is with you, helping you live out that love.
Dear Lord, help me to love You not just in words, but in the way I live. Thank You for giving me Your Spirit to guide and strengthen me. Remind me daily that I am never alone and that my life is secure in You.
In Jesus name, Amen.
Love and Blessings, Karen
