Divine Mercy Sunday: A Reflection on Faith After Easter

"Peace be with you...Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." (John 20:19, 29)
The excitement of Easter morning has passed, and we may find ourselves settling back into ordinary routines. Yet the message of Easter was never meant to fade...it is meant to transform our everyday lives. On this first Sunday after Easter, we revisit the story of Thomas, who struggled to believe the resurrection without seeing it for himself.
Thomas often gets labeled as "doubting," but his story is deeply human. He wanted assurance, something tangible. And instead of rejecting him, Jesus met him right in the middle of his doubt. With compassion, He invited Thomas to see, to touch, and ultimately, to believe.
This moment reminds us that faith is not the absence of questions...it is trusting Jesus even when we cannot see the full picture. We all have moments when we long for certainty, when life feels uncertain or overwhelming. Yet Christ still comes to us, speaking peace into our fears and offering grace instead of condemnation.
The risen Christ’s greeting..."Peace be with you"...was not just for the disciples; it is for us today. It is a peace that quiets anxious hearts, restores hope, and calls us to live as witnesses of His love.
As we move beyond Easter Sunday, may we carry this truth with us: Jesus meets us where we are, strengthens our faith, and sends us out with His peace. Like Thomas, may we respond with a renewed declaration: "My Lord and my God!"
Risen Lord, thank You for meeting us in our doubts and fears. Help us to trust You even when we cannot see clearly. Fill our hearts with Your peace and send us out to share Your love with others. In Jesus name, Amen
Love and Blessings to all, Karen
